Service discontinued — what happens to your data
Brumo, operated by Hype Dev LLC, shut down on August 14, 2026. Your data is retained only until September 13, 2026, and solely so we can honor access, copy, and deletion requests. After that date it is permanently deleted. Before then you can request a copy of your data, or immediate deletion, by emailing team@hypedev.co. Requests are verified against the phone number on the account, so email from — or tell us — the number you used with Brumo. Every right described below still applies during this window.
Who we are
Brumo is an AI companion you text on iMessage, operated by the HypeDev team. We collect the minimum data needed to run the service and nothing else.
What we collect
- Your phone number — required, used to sign you in and send messages.
- Your name — optional, so Brumo can address you by name.
- Your timezone — auto-detected, used for scheduling reminders.
- The messages you send Brumo and the replies Brumo sends you.
- Short facts Brumo extracts from your messages (e.g. “wakes at 6am”) so he can reference them later.
- Billing details, if you subscribe to Pro, handled end-to-end by Stripe — we never see your card number.
How we use it
Only to provide and improve the Brumo experience. We do not sell your data. We do not share your data with third parties for advertising. Your messages are processed by OpenAI’s API to generate replies — OpenAI’s API terms prohibit them from training on API data. iMessage and SMS delivery is handled by Sendblue under standard carrier agreements.
Your rights
You can request a copy of your data, or deletion of your account and all associated data, by emailing team@hypedev.co. We verify requests against the phone number on the account and honor them within 30 days, or by September 13, 2026 — whichever comes first. No further messages are sent to anyone, so there is nothing left to opt out of.
Data retention
Following the shutdown, all accounts, messages, and memories are retained only until September 13, 2026, and only to service data requests. On that date they are permanently deleted. If you request deletion sooner, we remove your data then instead.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Access is limited to a small number of team members who need it to support the service.
Children
Brumo is not intended for anyone under 13. We don’t knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has signed up, email us and we’ll delete the account.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll post the new version at this URL with an updated date at the top.
